Petaouchnock is a French word created in the forties to sound like a Russian city and to mean a place lost somewhere, difficult to find and quite undefinable. It is translated under different names depending on which country you live in.

In short every country has its own peculiar way to name a place that we cannot situate on a map because IT IS LOST. Lost beyond our imagination… or maybe not. It depends if you accept to see it (with me) as a real place.

For some years now I have been trying with my scottish friend Fiona Britee, to give Petaouchnock a new role in the world, to define its shape and wrap it both in poetry and reality. And the first thing we did, Fiona and I, was to build a library. Yes a library.
